STOLEN SERIES
This series is dedicated to the many Black people that were robbed of their lives at the hands of the police. I use time as a medium to define how long each portrait is colored in. 1 year of life = 1 minute of color. Tamir Rice was 12 when he was murdered, so I colored his portrait for 12 minutes.
For each of these portraits I played with the harsh relationship between time and death. I want the viewer to see how much empty space is left in these lives, stories that will never be told, space that can never be filled. This emptiness represents holes in their families and our community, who will be forever stuck with the question, “who were they becoming?” This series touches on grief and the unknown.

GOOGLE MURAL: ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Project Type
Mural
Date
2023
Dimensions
55 x 11'
Location
Chelsea Market Google Offices
Captured in this mural, you can find neighbors sharing a keyboard, a plant lover enjoying their neighbors BBQ, children baking, a fire escape barbershop in action and much more. I focused on the diversity of New York City and celebrated the infinite ways we can and do interact with our space. As I was reflecting on what makes a space feel like home, I concluded that it is the space where one can be their authentic self. I want each viewer to feel seen in this piece, be it in the mood, style, or the actions of the characters. I want the viewer to feel that a part of their definition of “home” is reflected in their workspace to remind them that their individual story and life experiences are of value and welcomed in the office environment.
In addition to the mural, I participated in an artist talk and panel for Google employees. As an “Artist in Residence” I was able to converse with employees working nearby and share more of the process with the community. The frequent visits from employees allowed me to go into depth around the different artistic choices and challenges that I faced, giving the workers a greater sense of connection to the mural.
