STOLEN SERIES
This series is dedicated to the many Black people that were robbed of their lives at the hands of the police. I use time as a medium to define how long each portrait is colored in. 1 year of life = 1 minute of color. Tamir Rice was 12 when he was murdered, so I colored his portrait for 12 minutes.
For each of these portraits I played with the harsh relationship between time and death. I want the viewer to see how much empty space is left in these lives, stories that will never be told, space that can never be filled. This emptiness represents holes in their families and our community, who will be forever stuck with the question, “who were they becoming?” This series touches on grief and the unknown.

BROOKLYN WINDOW SERIES

Date
2020
This series expands upon a series I started years ago when I first moved to Brooklyn.
I grew fascinated by the windows, capturing both the seemingly mundane and the diverse and creative moments of everyday life - in perfect frame - different lifestyles, moments of connection, acts of protest, creative passions, and so much more. The small glimpses into people’s homes.
Flash forward to 2020 in the height of COVID, I spent hours each day walking all over NYC. And I paid even closer attention to these glimpses. I noticed the multitude of ways people expressed themselves and cultivated connections with those around them and the outside world. I watched as we used fire escapes to host concerts, rooftops as community theaters, and yoga mats replacing living room rugs. We have been forced to confront our relationship with our home through the ugliness of the pandemic, but as a small silver lining, we have learned the value of taking care of our living space and cherishing the small moments in our everyday lives.
